After success of last year, Youth Camp in Pakrac continues. Built on legacy of Volunteer Project Pakrac 1993-1997, pioneering peace building effort in post-YU countries, Youth Camp wants to gather group of international volunteers to learn about peace building, promote cooperation of people coming from different countries, celebrate diversities and support local efforts of building sustainable peace in town who suffered severe destruction in war in 1990s Learning about violence & nonviolence is at the base of Camp idea.<\/p>\n
History: <\/strong>From August 1991 untill May 1995 Pakrac was divided and severely destroyed after fightings between Croatian state armed forces and rebels from ‘Republic of Serbian Krajina’ supported by Yugoslav Army. Cease fire was monitored by UN Protection Forces from 1992.<\/p>\n From July 1993 untill February 1997 over 400 international volunteers from some 30 countries participated in Social Reconstruction efforts in UN Protected Area Sector West in Croatia. Pakrac Project was among first peacebuilding efforts in UN records, International Volunteers were most alive and unusual part of it.<\/p>\n In 2013 was marked 20th Anniversary of Volunteer Project Pakrac accompanied by Youth Camp whose idea and implementation was warmly greeted by ex- volunteers, Pakrac citizens, Camp participants and organisers.<\/p>\n Location: <\/strong>Mountain house Omanovac located 7 km from downtown Pakrac, at the level of 655 m above sea level. Activities will be held also in Pakrac and villages around.<\/p>\n Organisers: <\/strong>Youth Camp is part of the EU funded project \u201c Violence leaves marks \u2013 Ring for nonviolence\u201d led by Centre for Peace Studies, Zagreb www.cms.hr<\/a> and locally implemented by Delfin \u2013 Centre for Support and Development of Civil Society, Pakrac http:\/\/delfin-pakrac.com\/press\/<\/a> & Miramida \u2013 Regional Peacebuilding Exchange, Gro\u017enjan-Grisignana. Camp is open to international volunteers and official language is English.
